10. How To Res(Train) A Dragon

As they sat in the bar, Alice saw that something was troubling George. Given their recent lack of progress with Dragon, she assumed he simply felt defeated. Their boss constantly broke his promises, and it seemed increasingly apparent that he was just taking them for fools.

In reality, George was thinking about something much more personal: he kept reliving the dream he’d had the night before and the intoxicating rush of power he’d felt. He was ashamed to admit it but knew he envied the Dragon’s power and strength.

So when Alice asked George what they might do next, he was lost for words and just looked back at her blankly. Annoyed, Alice shook him, asking if he was paying attention. When that didn’t work, she reached inside her bag and pulled out a photo of her kids to remind him who they were fighting for. This snapped George’s attention back into the room.

As George cleared his mind, he suddenly understood what to do. He’d seen the world through Dragon’s eyes, and he now realised that trying to reason with an addict was pointless because an addict isn’t rational.

“So how do we persuade an addict to change his ways?” Asked Alice.
